The EWA project was approved within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme and officially started on the 1st of January 2021, running for a duration of 30 months.
This project aimed to fight harassment and discrimination against women in sport.
How Did We Achieve This?
We developed a community of female athletes, professionals, sport managers, and policymakers in Europe who actively prevented and countered violence, abuse, harassment, and discrimination against female athletes in key sports environments. The project provided them with the necessary knowledge, education, and practical tools specifically designed to address these issues.
Specific Achievements
• Attracted key stakeholders in Europe already dealing with our project themes and involved them in a structured dialogue on the state of the art and the next steps to take.
• Promoted an innovative and multi-layered response to the problems tackled, maximised and built on past experiences, and created new strategies and tools at the EU level.
• Activated beneficiaries in Europe through an awareness-raising campaign that acknowledged and valorised the role of women in sports.
• Produced and disseminated counter-narratives on women in sports through a social media campaign.
• Tested and assessed a training and empowering methodology with AERS and sports professionals (coaches, tutors, managers, etc.).
• Experimented with a peer-to-peer support system to encourage the adoption of concrete solutions to the problem of serious violence and abuse of female athletes.
• Created a petition and successfully submitted it at the European level.
