During the meeting, the partners reviewed the results of the completed WP3 – CSTAS Development and Piloting – and coordinated activities for the final project phase, WP4, dedicated to dissemination, policy integration and the long-term use of CSTAS.

WP3 was one of the key stages of the LISTEN project. Building on the context analysis, best practice assessment and stakeholder insights gathered during WP2, the partners developed and practically tested the Circular Sport Tourism Advisory System (CSTAS) – a system designed to help sport organisations apply circular economy, environmental sustainability and social inclusion principles more systematically in sport tourism activities.

With the completion of WP3, CSTAS evolved from a theoretical concept into a practically tested system with a clear structure, concrete implementation tools, experience gained through piloting and a foundation for wider application across the sport and tourism sectors. The project partners prepared the main WP3 outputs.

CSTAS Implementation Framework defines the core CSTAS principles, system logic, possible application pathways and the basis for monitoring and assessing implementation. The document provides the methodological foundation for the practical application of CSTAS in sport organisations.

CSTAS Practical Tools Pack is a practical set of resources containing checklists, action guidance and reporting tools designed to help sport organisations apply CSTAS principles in their day-to-day activities.

Policy Dialogue and CSTAS Action Plan focuses on the links between CSTAS and the wider sport and tourism ecosystem. The document examines opportunities for integrating CSTAS into the activities of sport federations, the tourism sector, municipalities and other stakeholders, while also outlining directions for its further application.

One of the key outcomes of WP3 was confirmation that CSTAS can be applied across different sport tourism contexts. The system can support one-off sport events and tournaments, youth and adult training cycles and camps, recurring sport club processes, small and regional sport communities, as well as sport facility improvement processes.

During the third partner meeting, the partners also discussed the transition to WP4 – Dissemination, Policy Integration and Sustainability. This phase focuses on disseminating CSTAS results, encouraging wider application of the system and creating the conditions for its long-term use.

The planned activities include an awareness-raising campaign on circular sport tourism, the establishment of the CSTAS Help Desk to provide practical support to sport organisations, the preparation of the Strategic Roadmap for CSTAS, and the development of the CSTAS Digital Hub – a digital space providing access to CSTAS resources, organisation registration and continued stakeholder engagement.

The third LISTEN partner meeting marked an important transition in the project – from CSTAS development and practical testing towards dissemination, wider application and long-term use. In the next stage, the project partners will work to ensure that the system and its practical tools are easily accessible to sport organisations and contribute to the development of more sustainable, inclusive and circular sport tourism.

The project is funded by the European Union.

More information about the LISTEN project can be found here: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/projects/search/details/101243338

Disclaimer:

Funded by the European Union.
